It’s that day. That horrible day. Time to move from one continent back to the one from which we came. We’ll grab breakfast in Brugge and then it’s time for trains back to Amsterdam, where we will find the plane that will bring us back to our normal lives (where we can tell you all about our trip!).

Brugge: Discovering the City

Our last full day of touring (*weeping*). Brugge is a compact and beautiful city, filled with scenic canals and historic buildings. It wasn’t touched by the bombing of World War II, so it is wonderfully preserved.

We’re likely going to spend most of the day just walking around, enjoying the city.

France to Belgium

Today we travel from Amboise to Paris to Brussels to (catch breath) Brugge, Belgium.

We’ll probably stop in Paris and hit a museum that we missed while we wait for the train to Brussels.

Loire Valley: Chateau Touring

Loire Valley: Amboise Chateaus

Our home base for our two days in the Loire Valley is the town of Amboise, France. Conveniently, it offers two Chateaus to visitors in town. One of them (Chateau du Clos) contains a spiral staircase designed by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Paris: Chartres

Another quick side trip will consume this morning. We’re off to the town of Chartres, then back to Paris for an afternoon at the Louvre. We’ll finish it off with a night cruise down the Seine.

Could possibly be the best day ever.

Paris: Versailles & Eiffel

A quick train ride from Paris sits the majestic palace of Versailles. That should cover the morning, then we’ll be back in Paris walking down the Champs Elysees. We’ll finish by heading to the Eiffel Tower to see the hourly after dark fireworks show.

Murren to Paris

Very short day in Murren today. After breakfast we begin the train journey from Murren to Interlaken to Paris.

Murren: Alps!

We’re staying in a town called Murren (with an umlaut on the u) in Switzerland. It sits at a cool 5412ft above sea level. Should be a fun change from Cinque Terre, which is sea level.
